Arcelor Projects buys spiral mill

Arcelor Projects recently completed the purchase of a unique production facility for spirally welded pipes, located near Rotterdam.

This facility, which will be named Arcelor Projects Spiral Mill, is dedicated to the production of pipes for foundation applications. With direct access for deep-water vessels, the site is the ideal spot for production and handling of very large and heavy pipes.

Arcelor Projects Spiral Mill, formerly known as De Boer Buizen, has the exceptional possibility to produce pipes up to 49 m length without circumferential weld. Longer tubes can be achieved by welding.

The following standard dimensions and steel grades can be produced:

Dimensions:
  • Nominal exterior diameters: 864 mm to 2997 mm
  • Wall thickness: 9 mm to 25 mm
  • Length, without circumferential weld: up to 49 m. Longer tubes can be achieved by welding.

Steel grades:
  • According to EN 10219-1: S 235, S 275, S 355, S 420 and S 460
  • According to API 5L: Grade B to X-70
  • Other steel grades can be delivered on request
